Establishing a European Information Technology Hub in Tallinn
The new headquarters of the European IT Agency, planned next to Tallinn’s Seaplane Harbour and historic hangars, is designed to be representative, energy-efficient, and compliant with the highest security standards.
The building, with its distinctive shape, introduces clear and calm architectural forms into an area surrounded by a variety of contemporary developments. Its angular silhouette, clearly visible from the sea, provides a balanced contrast to the soft, rounded forms of the adjacent seaplane hangar.
The exterior is defined by a glass façade covered with sun-shading louvers, which not only enhance the building’s energy efficiency but also serve to shield much of its internal activity from view. The overall composition is intended to convey a sense of monumentality, befitting the stature of this institution — not just within Estonia, but as a key IT infrastructure hub for the entire European Union.
