Collusion between nature and architecture in Valgesoo bog

“This viewing tower is located in the Valgesoo landscape protection area and forms part of the hiking trail of the same name. The untouched nature that is characteristic of Estonia placed great demands on the architect in terms of achieving harmony between the design and the surrounding environment. The resulting architecture is marked by Scandinavian elegance and emphasises nature and the symbiosis of geometric forms. The viewing tower fulfils its function as part of nature studies programmes and is well suited to bird-watching.

The material utilised in the load-bearing structures of the tower was durable steel, around 35 tonnes of which was used in total. In order to lend more expression to the slender tower, timber façade elements are planned which will be affixed to the load-bearing structure. The total height of the tower is 30 metres, making it one of the tallest in Estonia. ”
