Nordic Spiritual Culture in the Heart of Copenhagen.

The aim of the architectural competition was to design a modern church that brings the community together, with an architecture that is both inviting and contextually appropriate. The resulting building, with its distinctive form, serves as a landmark in Copenhagen’s Sydhavnen district. Its soaring church tower is visible from all major directions, giving the building a strong presence in the urban landscape.

The key themes of the proposal are INTERWOVENNESS, OPENNESS, and TRANSPARENCY.

The building is designed to be open and welcoming, encouraging encounters between people and activities. We aimed for a logistically interwoven spatial program that would unite the community both functionally and symbolically (INTERWOVENNESS). The design opens the cultural halls onto the promenades, linking these paths directly to the church square (OPENNESS). The discreet visual connection between the sanctuary and the surrounding city, along with the use of printed glass as a material, expresses the idea of TRANSPARENCY.
