Ramsi kindergarten: a building full of fun, light, brightness and imagination

“Ramsi’s kindergarten was for me the first project in which integrated design was used from the initial phase onwards. Thanks to the architect’s willingness to amend the building’s design based on the results of the energy efficiency and internal climate analysis, we managed to come up with a great solution for future users of the building. The best example of the impact of integrated design is external screening as an end solution, the sizes of selected windows and factors related to the amount of sun they let through, all of which were repeatedly optimised throughout the process. Another positive was the client’s willingness to put more time into the design phase in order to achieve the best result.

In addition to a great internal climate, the building also boasts playful and well-thought-through interior design. Interior architect Ainiki Niinelaid was inspired by the name of the kindergarten, ‘Taruke’ (meaning ‘little beehive’), which is why a honeycomb pattern is used throughout the building. The colours were selected so as to produce a calm and pleasant backdrop.”
